Together with Cléa Petitpierre, we were commissionned, as architects and workers, to build a new kitchen and storage building for Caravana de llamas, a local firm that organizes treks with llamas. The construction followed the philosophy and the budget of the client: local materials, maximum reuse and respect of the environment. Built in 6 weeks and with 1'000 euros, the new building provides 16 sqm and improve both the functionality of the amenities and the image of the firm.
Built with rocks from the sites and adobe from the village, the materials came from a 25 km range, at the exception of 3 plastics covers and 4 m of sewers pipes.
The process focused on the dialogue with the users and the daily stay on site to understand the futur use of the building. Being workers as well as architects, the design sticked to the evolution of the construction and the reaction of the users who continued to use the site during the works.
